Pendeen Natural Slate™ (Brazilian) is a dense, naturally non-porous roofing material that resists water absorption, frost, UV exposure and acid rain. Certified to EN 12326-1 with W1, S1 and T1 ratings, it contains virtually no unstable minerals such as pyrites or unoxidised irons, meaning the surface remains stable and consistent over decades of exposure. Available in 500x250mm and 600x300mm formats, with thickness options of 5-7mm and 7-9mm to suit pitch, exposure level and structural loading requirements.

View All FAQsPendeen Natural Slate™ (Brazilian) is available in 500x250mm and 600x300mm slates. Both sizes can be supplied in 5-7mm or 7-9mm thickness depending on your specification.
Two colourways are available: graphite grey, which gives a deep, dark finish, and grey-green, a softer tone well suited to traditional and period rooflines.
The slate is certified to EN 12326-1 and carries W1, S1 and T1 ratings, covering water absorption, sulphur dioxide resistance, and thermal cycle resistance respectively.
At 500x250mm with a standard headlap, coverage is approximately 20 slates per square metre. Coverage varies with size and headlap. Always allow 5% additional quantity for on-site cutting and breakage.
Stainless steel slate hooks or copper nails are recommended as a minimum. All slates are pre-holed for a 90-100mm headlap. Brazilian slate is hard and dense, so cutting should be done with a disc machine.
